The following images (click on them for larger versions) show how the sample stage is attached.
The components here are the sample stage and X and Y actuator knobs. The actuators are on a pivoting mount for ease of handling (ergonomics).
Raising the condenser stage all the way up allows you to simply slide the stage onto the linear dovetail, locking it in place with the lock screw on the right side.
Next, I replaced the base electronics.
